Notes
- Note: The Yukon Legislative Council, which provided advice to the Commissioner of the Yukon (a federal government official), was initially appointed and then elected from 1900 until 1974, in which year it became the Yukon Legislative Assembly. Responsible government similar to that enjoyed by the Canadian provinces arrived in 1979, when the Commissioner was instructed by the federal government to act in a manner consistent with Lieutenant Governors in the provinces. That is, acting on the advice of the leader of the largest party, or Premier, who would form an Executive Council or Cabinet from among elected members.
